It changed a major operation of frontal sinus into an operation of the frontal recess and an operation of the maxillary sinus into a procedure on the ethmoidal infundibulum.
By FESS we are preserving the function of the sinus unlike previous sinus surgeries. It is technically more difficult for the surgeon but very comfortable with minimal morbidity for the patient. In fact to put it bluntly “ the endoscope is the instrument that helps us to avoid surgery”.
